Dale Bishop

Artist Photo of Dale Bishop at easel.jpg
Dale’s motivation to paint comes from the exciting, ever- changing problems that mediums and materials present as she tries to depict realistically and emotionally her surroundings, world events, and people.

“It is a privilege and constant challenge to capture in my painting what has been formed and created by the Master Creator of all visual and material matter of our universe.”

Ever since adolescence, Dale's art journey has been encouraged by her Uncle Joe and many painters like Mrs. Clark of the Opportunity School near the Columbia Airport, who took time to show and expand her knowledge and hunger to continue artistic experimenting in portrait work.

Since then, her continuing education with many artists in workshops and plein air settings over the U.S. have been a great gift and privilege; artists like Bob Bruns, Daniel Greene, Frank Covino, David Gray, Craig Srebnik are a part of her processes.

Dale graduated from Lander College with a BA in Art and Education and the Lander College faculty commended her for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Art-Awarded Honors Day, April 13, 1976.

Her professional art career began as a designer in the textile industry, as well as commissioned design work for ten plus original cross stitch books, record covers, and pamphlet illustrations. She taught later in two high school art settings: Batesburg-Leesville High, Batesburg, SC and Landrum High, District 1 Spartanburg, SC, along with community workshops and individual mentoring.

Dale's current painting mediums are oil and acrylic. Her work leans toward an animated realism and high color, along with small touches of design resonating in her work. Her subject matter is very eclectic; however, portrait and human studies are her favorite. If she can embrace an image or a message, she will translate and paint her version of it. Animals are another strong interest subject for painting.
