Don Bishop

Artist Photo.Don Bishop.jpg

No two paintings are alike - never to be duplicated -as color is ever-changing on the canvas. Each viewer sees different images and visions as Don’s painting require a lingering of the eye to discover new treasures in each rendering of art.

I began my journey with the beauty of color in stained glass and later with acrylic paints, each media powerful to the eye of the beholder. Color brings satisfaction and completion to the canvas and seems to inspire yet another painting to follow. Color is God’s great gift to mankind, a gift that brings joy, mystery, hope and wonder!

Don is native of South Carolina and lives in Lexington, SC with his wife and co-artist Dale. He entered the world of art by becoming familiar with stained glass in the Upstate; enjoying the craft and teaching for several years in his church. Loving the color of stained glass, during retirement Don translated this love to the canvas when he began pouring acrylic abstracts.

Since 2010, he has continued to enjoy the world of art and artists. The quote from Bob Ross seems to apply “I can’t think of anything more rewarding than being able to express yourself to others through painting.”

Don grew up in West Columbia, graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School, North Greenville College, Furman University and New Orleans Seminary. Every day is a gift from God and an opportunity to enjoy life, family, friends, and art.
